IDOLATRY: ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?!
Last Sunday,I went to church to attend the weekly mass. When I came there, the seats were occupied and the priest started his homily. I came late that's why I have to attend the next mass to be able to listen the first part of it. As I was sitting in a vacant pew and waiting for the second mass, I was strucked by some observations from different people.
We all know that Christianity was brought by the Spaniards to the Philippines. That is one of the remarkable characteristics of the Filipinos- being religious. We worship the lives of the saints and through this, we didn't noticed that we already violating the prescribed law written in the Bible.
Some people were kissing and wiping their handkerchiefs to the replicas ( wood carved) of the saints and the worst, some parents were allowing their child to kiss the said wood carved saint.
In my opinion in the case of the child, instead of the child gets well, the child may possibly acquire dirt from the wood carved saints and may lead to become ill or sick. Let us not worship the man-made wood carved saints instead, let's honor the saints of their replica of their identity and for their individual right doings they had done before. Finally, we can be a good Christian by having faith in God and do what He wants us to do.
